Tinos in 4 seasons
Tinos is enchanting throughout the year. Summer in Tinos is amazing, but so are the other seasons.
In autumn, winds die down and air and water temperature is ideal. The beaches are not crowded anymore and swimming in crystal waters in the autumn light is the best present you could give yourselves. It’s the perfect season for hiking the island’s beautiful trails. It’s time for rakizia (raki distillation), kazanema (boiling of raki) and the feast that follows or the traditional feasts in Falatado and Steni. So, you’d be lucky to enjoy your vacation in September or October.
In winter, Tinos slows down and its wild beauty is at its peak. There has been increasingly more people from abroad as well as Greeks from all over Greece choosing to move permanently to Tinos.
It is true that the custom of veggera (visit) is slowly fading out and it is not strictly observed as in the past when people used to bring their own oil lamps, but it is revived with the gatherings of the newcomers and the locals, contributing to the socialization and the connection of different people with different interests who have one thing in common: their love for Tinos…
In winter, days are often sunny and cool and swimming gives its place to walks at the beach. Hiking and enjoying the lush green nature is a nice change after the dry summer. What never changes is the quality of the food served in the island’s tavernas some of which remain open throughout the year.
Spring is probably the best season to visit this Cycladic island. Days are longer and the atmosphere is crystal clear, so you can see all the way to Antimilos or Chios, and gaze almost at every island of the Cyclades, looking forward to the summer. The island is all green and in blossom, beaches are empty and clean, and the people of Tinos ready to welcome you with a warm smile. Easter in Tinos, and especially in the villages where devoutness meets quaintness, is a unique experience.
Summer is one of the most vibrant seasons of the year. The island is full of life and its heart beats at the summer rhythm. Music and dancing in bars and on the beaches, the aromas of delicious Tinian delicacies and taverns full with people, swimming at the beautiful cosmopolitan or isolated beaches of the island will make your stay unforgettable.
Eco friendly
We, the inhabitants of Tinos, see to clean public spaces and beaches throughout the year. Above all, we respect the environment. We are trying to maintain the civilized and polite character of our island and, despite the increased tourist traffic, we hope that you will also respect the land that feeds us and the inhabitants who host you, and won’t be too loud. Thank you for protecting nature and the wild environment so that this Cycladic paradise can remain untouched.
