Eleni's Traditional Tavern

“Mrs. Eleni and her traditional tavern Koutouki in the port of Chora”

Nostalgic flavors that remind us of our mom’s home-cooking, passion, love, warmth and a big open hug.

This is what eating at the famous taverna TO KOUTOUKI TIS ELENIS feels like and rightly so.

In 1995, Eleni Theodorou took over the former wine tavern that is housed in a building dating from 1812. Decoration makes you think of naval journeys, brings memories of traditions and history. On its walls are painted tales and adventures of boats and of old Greece, creating an environment where quality and taste have always meant everything.

Mrs Eleni loves Tinos and its products and she will win your heart with her smile and warmth. She and the staff are always willing to recommend you traditional Tinian secret recipes and selected ingredients. Trust her – she’s the only one who knows how to pick them from local producers.

Quality, pleasure, the art of alchemy, the flavor of spices and thyme will take you back to the Greece of the past, full of traditions, flavors and authenticity.

Squab with thyme, fresh fish, fennel balls, homemade casseroles, arnathkies (local rare wild mushrooms), Tinian louza, meze and her famous artichoke pie are only a few of her select dishes.

This is our Eleni and her world – overwhelming, just like the menu and the flavors she offers. Her secret is her generosity, a recipe that becomes even more solid as years go by; this is how she won the hearts of the Tinians, the visitors, and of course, our hearts too.

Many politicians and famous artists from all over the world rush to her lovely taverna as soon as they arrive in Tinos. It is just 2 minutes from the port, on Evangelistrias and G. Gafou street, and we are confident that the cobbled alley and the colorful chairs will catch your attention.

To Koutouki tis Elenis is open every day from 11 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. so that you can enjoy your breakfast, lunch or dinner.

In the summer, during the high season, we advise you to make a reservation.

And for those who love a savory breakfast, trust us and order the artichoke pie or a rich omelette.

Combine them with Greek coffee from the traditional cafe “Kyriakatiko” right across the street, on the stairs.
